Count Dracula

Description

The Count Dracula pepper is a fairly compact, showy C. annuum with smallish dark leaves, producing lovely purple and white flowers that develop into smallish, pointy black peppers that slowly ripen to a vibrant blood red.  The plant is resilient, and can withstand some rugged growing conditions such as wind, mild hail, and drought.  When unripe the pods exhibit a slightly floral and mildly bitter flavour, so they are best left to ripen on the plant.  Once they are fully ripe, these gorgeous and dramatic pods are quite sweet and slightly fruity with a mild floral undertone, with a heat level comparable to other peppers such as the ubiquitous Jalapeno.  Photo credit Totally Tomatoes
