Description
The Rocoto pepper is native to the Andes and dates back to Incan times. They produce bright red fruit with a fresh fruity taste which sometimes have an apple shape. On the Scoville scale the peppers reach around 30,000 to 100,000 units. They make great pastes, salsas and hot sauce and are used in Mexico in this way. The plant has the black seeds, purple flowers and hairs common in Capsicum Pubescens. These plants are sometimes referred to as Manzano or Locoto peppers.
