Description
Capsicum Anuum v. Minimum is one of the smallest varieties out and about right now. It grows to an average height of 20/30cm and carries pods, the size of your smallest fingernails.
The flowers start off pointing downwards and errect as they mature; reaching a horizontal level once they open and continuing to move point sunwards once they have been fertilized.
Topping out at 2cm, the elongated leaves are soft and have been known to build up a sort of waxy/salty residue when fertilized too hard indoors without showering them once in a while.
Generally the 5 to 10mm long pods start off green and ripen to red, there are however different subVarieties featuring a high ammount of anthocian, rendering them, as well as the flowers' rims, purple. These plants grow A LOT of fruits and flowers at once.. and since they're small it's not too bad that they're so hot.
Seeds germinate best at temps between 20-28°C in the months of Feb to April, if you plan to grow them outside in the northern hemisphere. Germination takes 7-20 Days, First flowers show after ~2.5months and pods take about 75days to fully ripen, including seeds.
If you just want something interesting on your windowsill or want a bonsai-like experience in a fraction of the time this is a pretty good pick. My fav tree to imitate with these is the african acadia.
