Description

A tropical legume that is also known as Manila Bean, Dragon Bean, Sigarilyas, Goa Bean. It is hardy and low maintenance crop that grows in warm and humid climate. Grown similar to Pole Bean, the vine reaches lengths of up to 5 meters long. They produce beautiful light blue flowers. The pods are typically rectangular and grows from 15-22 cm, with four corner and lace-like edges. Once the pods mature, they become tough and, usually, split open releasing seeds.

 

Winged Beans are used in a lot of Asian recipes. The pods can be eaten raw or cooked and is rich in Vitamins, Calcium and Iron.
